Bill Ernst: piano
Bill is a retired Georgia Tech engineering professor who has played piano for
over 55 years. At Georgia Tech, he, tenor player Professor Donovan Young,
and two former grad students formed the straight-ahead jazz combo, Jazz No Chaser.
This group performed regularly at on-campus and off-campus events. They later
formed the combo, Quartech, which played at the 1997 Atlanta Jazz Festival.
Over the years, Bill has studied with various Atlanta jazz pianists including
Marcia Perman, Bill Anschell and Penelope Williams.
